Will Rahul Gandhi be able to retain his Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 elections
As it is very evident from the actions of Rahul Gandhi he is the ‘Pappu’ of the nation and as time is passing by more and more people are accepting this fact. Congress has lost its charm and influence which it used to have during the time of Indra Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. In the last decade everything has gone downhill for then. After the crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, even the Congress party has realized that they have lost their grip on Indian politics.
The miserable condition of Congress was evident in the recent elections held in the five Indian state in which they were only able to form a government in one of the states i.e. Punjab. The desperation to gain a stronghold again was seen in the Uttar Pradesh elections where Congress formed an alliance with Samajwadi Party. In the assembly elections, Congress was not able to win seats in their stronghold Amethi. Congress lost all the seats from which it has contended the elections in Amethi which is thought to be the pocket borough of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Congress lost over all the four seats although BJP was able to win three seats.
Why would it be difficult for Rahul Gandhi to win from Amethi, the pocket borough of Nehru-Gandhi family in 2019 Lok Sabha elections?
With the increase in the popularity of BJP and the rapid decrease in the influence of Congress, it seems that it would be a very difficult task for Rahul Gandhi to retain his Lok Sabha seat from Amethi in 2019. The probable BJP candidate Smriti Irani has gained a lot of support from the general public and has become a favorite. Her increasing popularity will play a crucial role and will probably be a major reason behind the loss of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul has proved himself to be an imbecile when it comes to politics. The only reason that he was able to sustain his position was the Nehru-Gandhi family name which seems to be losing its effect. Although if BJP chooses to change their candidate for the Amethi elections then the people may think that they are not taking the Amethi elections seriously and this would, in turn, give Congress an upper hand. Congres has not done much for Amethi and now it seems unlikely that Rahul Gandhi will be able to retain his seat from Amethi.
Best course of action for Rahul Gandhi
One thing that Rahul can do in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in order to get a seat is to contend election from two seats, one from Amethi while another one from somewhere in Punjab where they enjoy support to a certain extent and are also in power in the current time. This will make sure that he will be able to retain a seat in the election.
