Lok Sabha polls: Sixth phase witnesses nearly 62 pc polling for 59 seats in 7 states
Nearly 62 percent voter turnout was recorded till 1800 hrs within the sixth phase of polling, on Sunday for 59 Lok Sabha seats in seven states, the Election Commission stated.
Based on the Election Commission, according to latest figures received till 1900 hrs, 61.82 percent voter turnout was recorded till 1800 hrs.
The Poll panel stated till sixth phase, 88.9 percent seats happen to be covered.
From 543 seats, voting on 483 seats are carried out, the Commission stated.
West Bengal recorded greatest polling of 80.16 percent till 1800 hrs, adopted by Jharkhand at 65.17 percent, Haryana at 64.19 percent, Madhya Pradesh 61.44 percent, Bihar 59.29 percent and Uttar Pradesh 54.10 percent.
The poll panel stated Delhi recorded 56.92 percent voting till 1800 hrs in 2019. In 2014, it had been 65.1 percent.
Madhya Pradesh recorded 56.81 percent voting in 2014.
Jharkhand recorded 64.50 percent till 1800 hrs in 2019 also it was 64.53 percent in 2014. Polling for 4 seats occured today. In 2014, West Bengal had polling per centage of 84.98 percent, the poll panel stated
Polling, which began on the dull note each morning hrs, selected up pace because the day progressed. Delhi, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh recorded improvement within the evening, as people began gathering while watching polling stations.
The sixth phase saw bigwigs like President Ram Nath Kovind, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and former Union Minister Ajay Maken exercising their franchise within the national capital.
India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli and Haryana chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar also worked out their franchise .
