The Lok Sabha elections are set up in order to decide who will become the Prime Minister of our nation, the citizens vote for the party they wish to give their support to and then their candidate becomes the Prime Minister.India has a bicameral Parliament, Lok Sabha is the lower house and is also known as the house of the people.Member of the Lok Sabha is elected by the adult universal suffrage.Every five years fresh elections take place.Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be the next election that will be held which will decide the next Prime Minister of India.
Lok Sabha Election 2019:
The maximum strength of the Lower house according to the Constitution of India is of 552 members.Out of these not, more than 2 members are elected by the President from the Anglo-Indian community while 530 members represent the state and 20 members represent the Union territory.
As there are 545 members including two nominated members and the speaker, any party which manages to get 273 seats in its favor (either by itself or with the help of an alliance) wins the elections and forms the government at the center.The parties have the discretion to announce the name of their prime ministerial candidate either pre-elections or after winning the elections.The party official elects the Prime Minister.

Who will emerge victorious in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019?
As of now the major parties that will be taking part in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are-Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP), Indian National Congress(INC), Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), Telugu Desam Party(TDP) and Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP). If we have a look at the present scenario it seems to be evident that BJP has a stronghold in Indian politics and with a Prime Ministerial candidate like Narendra Modi they seem to be leading the race for winning the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
It will be quite interesting to see how the other parties will perform and what sort of strategy they will adopt against such a strong opposition.

Lok Sabha Elections 2004:
UPA – United Progressive Alliance (INC +)
UPA won a total of 218 seats and fell short of 55 seats for attaining a majority.UPA won by 138,312,337 votes.National Democratic Alliance which was formed by BJP was able to attain a total of 181 seats.INC+ with the support they gathered from parties like Samajwadi Party, BSP etc formed the government at the Center and Mr. Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister.
Lok Sabha Elections 2009:
UPA – United Progressive Alliance (INC +)
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, UPA emerged as the winning party with a total of 262 seats.Congress achieved consecutive victories first in 2004 and then in 2009.The Alliance fell short of a few seats otherwise it would have successfully bagged majority in the elections.UPA won by 153,482,356 votes, BJP won 102,689,312 votes with 159 seats.With the support of others, INC+ achieved a majority and Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister of India.
Lok Sabha Election 2014:
BJP – Bhartiya Janta Party
2014 was the historic year when BJP achieved whooping support from the people of India and bagged 336 seats and hence achieved a majority.No other party came even close to them.UPA was able to achieve just 49 seats. The 16th Lok Sabha elections showed the kind of influence that Modi has in Indian politics.
Less than two years are left for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.All the parties have pulled their socks and are already begging to build up their strategies and agendas for the elections.BJP is the most powerful party taking party in the elections and all the others are planning to come together to form an alliance in order to get rid of BJP.It will be interesting to see the position of some of the parties especially AAP which is relatively new to Indian politics but still has high hopes.
