ECI notice to 3 media houses for publishing poll result survey
The Election Commission India (ECI) May 14 searched for explanation from three media houses for allegedly publishing market research “predicting results” of Lok Sabha elections. They’ve been given 48 hrs to reply to the notice, the ECI stated.
“The ECI has gotten complaints against three media houses regarding displaying poll surveys predicting outcomes of Lok Sabha elections.
The ECI has searched for explanation from all of these media houses… why action shouldn’t be taken against them for breach of provision of section 126A of Representation of those Act,” the poll body stated inside a statement.
Section 126A from the RPA claims that “nobody shall conduct any exit poll and publish or publicist by way of paper or electronic media… caused by any exit poll during such period… In situation of the general election.
Tthe time may commence right from the start from the hrs fixed for poll on the very first day of poll and continue till 30 minutes after closing from the poll out of all states and union territories.”
Polling for that seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha elections is going to be held on May 19.
