2019 Himachal Pradesh Lok Sabha Election: Compete in Four Seats; 45 Candidates in the Field
In Himachal Pradesh, there are four seats in Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra, on which there are 45 candidates in the fray. However, the main fight has usually resided between the BJP and the Congress, but this time, the BSP has also fielded candidates in four seats. Narendra Modi vs. Rahul Gandhi became a publicity started with local and national issues. In the meantime, the party changed and there was a sharp rhetoric too.
The competition in Shimla is between BJP’s Suresh Kashyap and the Congress’s Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil. In the Congressional seat, BJP has been winning the last two times. On the Mandi seat, the BJP has expressed confidence in the current MP Ram formation. At the same time, Ashram Sharma, son of Anil Sharma, who is minister in Sukhram’s grandson and minister in BJP government, is a Congress candidate. This seat is also in the discussion because it is also the home-zone of chief minister Jairam Thakur. Geographically it also comes in Kullu, Lahulpati and Kinnaur districts, while Chamba’s Tribal Plain Bharmour is also in it.
Hamirpur seat is in discussion because three-time MP Anurag Thakur is a candidate from the BJP while Ramlal Thakur, who lost three times from the Congress side, is contesting. Following the refusal of MP Shanta Kumar in Kangra, the BJP has expressed confidence in the state government’s minister Kishen Kapoor. In front of them Congress MLA Pawan Kajal is in the ground.
